Sometimes I wake up and wish I could stay in bed
Cuz life is so hard sometimes
Things have never been so bad that I wished I was dead
But I wish it were better most times
I mean, Monday the Tivo started trippin
And I missed my favorite show
Tuesday I spilled the caramel frappachino I was drinkin
And I feel like I wasted my doe
Later that night I burned my lobster and steak
And totally ruined my dinner
Wednesday I had a meeting at work and was late
So now my wallet is thinner
Thursday was the worst day of all last week
My bonus was 10% instead of thirty
Friday wasn’t that bad I broke my hard life streak
Until I someone got my air force ones dirty
But Saturday, ahh Saturday that’s the day it all changed
I went shopping downtown after my tee time was rearranged
So here I am amidst the skyscrapers and I’m all mad
Cause my friends car is nicer than the last car I had
Then I heard someone say got any spare change
He was dirty and grimy but I asked him his name
He told me his life’s story how he wound up on the street
And how he constantly got dissed by the people he’d meet
He said he was an ex soldier and his wife left while he was at war
He talked about getting spit on in while begging by the store
His family moved without telling him where they were going
He said he was from Chicago but moved to LA when it started snowing
He said he hadn’t eaten in at least three days it may have been four
He talked about sleeping on cardboard on the floor in a vacant store
He begged for newspapers to help him stay informed
And when he finished reading they helped him stay warm
He wasn’t an alchie or druggie, he simply fell on hard times
He said he used to have a Bible, so I gave him mine
I bought him some food and something to drink
The more we talked the less he started to stink
Man, My life ain’t hard and my problems are trivial at best
I may not think I have much, but there a re people with much less
I handed him 5 bucks and said I was sorry for the hard times he had
He looked at me and smiled saying it aint all that bad
